Beloved Actor from Once Upon a Time and Hallmark Films Sadly Passes Away

Canadian actor⁢ Chris Gauthier was widely ⁢recognized ⁢for his exceptional performances ‍in various ‌films and TV series such as‍ “Watchmen,” “Freddy vs. Jason,” “Eureka,” ⁤and “Once Upon a Time.”​ He also appeared in numerous Hallmark movies including “Ms. Christmas Comes to Town,” “Three Wise⁤ Men and a Baby,” and ​“The Christmas⁣ Promise.” According to the renowned entertainment database, IMDB, Gauthier had an impressive career spanning ‍over 100 TV ​shows and movies.

Sadly, ‍Gauthier’s management​ company,⁣ TriStar Appearances/Event ⁢Horizon Talent, released‍ a statement to ⁣TVLine announcing the ⁢heartbreaking news of his⁤ passing.⁤ The statement reads, “It is with heavy hearts that we confirm the passing of ⁢our ‌dear friend and client, ⁤Chris Gauthier, on Friday morning, February ⁣23, ⁢at⁤ the age of 48.”

The statement further adds, “As a beloved character ​actor based in Vancouver, Chris touched the hearts of ⁤many ⁢through his ⁤exceptional talent on both the small and big ⁤screens. His loss ‌is deeply felt not only‌ by his fans but also by those of ⁣us who had the privilege‌ of knowing him‌ personally.‍ We⁤ kindly request privacy‌ for his ‍family during ‌this difficult time as they mourn his passing.”

The cause of Gauthier’s death was not disclosed by his manager. However, it ​was revealed that he passed away suddenly‍ and ⁤unexpectedly after a brief‍ illness.

Upon​ hearing the tragic news, the Hallmark Channel paid⁣ tribute⁣ to Gauthier on Instagram, stating, “We are saddened by the passing of ​Chris⁢ Gauthier. Our thoughts‍ and prayers are with his family, friends, and fans.”

Gauthier portrayed⁤ the character of Smee ⁢in “Once Upon a​ Time,” with Colin⁢ O’Donoghue playing⁣ the role of Captain Hook. In a​ heartfelt Instagram post, O’Donoghue shared⁤ a photo of the two‍ of them ‍and wrote, “You will be deeply ​missed, my ⁤brother! You were the true captain!!”

According ⁤to PEOPLE, Gauthier is survived by his wife, Erin, and their two sons, ‌Ben and Sebastian. He ⁤will be ⁢greatly ​missed by his loved ones⁤ and​ the entertainment industry as a whole.
